S/PEO Status Field

A place for discussion on how to use the program more effectively

S/PEO Status Field

Postby akastormseeker » Sun Mar 05, 2017 10:55 am

Hi, I was wondering what is the purpose/use case for the PEO Status field? I mean... I can guess on the spectator/partner values, but I can't make sense of the other two. When I try searching online, all I can find is links back to this site and other unrelated results.

The DM seems to have a lot of reports and charts relating to the field, so I'd like to understand it more.

Great question, and thanks for asking (and sorry to be slow responding ... I didn't see your post until today).

The SPEO concept comes from the book "Coaching Your Champions" by Eric Foley (with some modification by me) and from the Mission Increase Foundation.

The basic idea is that we need to help our ministry partners move through various phases in their involvement with the ministry.

Classifying people into one of these 4 "stages" helps give us greater focus as we minister to our parthers.

The four stages are:

S - Spectator: they know who we are (or who our organization is), but they have not done anything beyond read our magazine, look at our website, listen to use speak, take a prayer card or other literature. They are watching us.

P - Participant - this person has in some way participated in the ministry, usually through us. Perhaps they have made a donation, or come on a team to visit the field, or in some way done something.

E - Engaged - these people have gone beyond participating in a project ... they are engaging with the ministry in an ongoing basis.

O - Owner - they have embraced the "cause" as their own and are actively encourage others in their sphere of influence to move the the SPEO model.

Here are a few websites to help with this:

Good background explanation, sir. Usage question: what if some person should not have any of these stati? For instance, I accidentally clicked on the PEO Status drop-down. Now I cannot return the field to its former blank status. And the person should not even have 'Spectator' status. There seems to be no way of going back to 'blank'.

When using for creating e-mail lists, I'd like to, potenially, select PEO Phase participant and higher, for example. The drop-down list gives the idea that I can only select one of the PEO phases.
