error on install

I am installing on a new computer running Windows7. I've tried uninstall/reinstall and come up with the same error.

"Error instantiating cursor object. Cannot find c:\donor5\pledgesource.dbf."

It gives me the options of "Locate, Ignore, Cancel, or Help"

How do I get past this?
Thanks for your help.
Steve

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. I'll be checking on this forum to see how to fix this.

Sorry to be slow responding on this one ... I just now noticed your message.

The pledgesource bug has been fixed in a recent DM update. If you need a copy of the file to get past this problem, just let me know and I'll be glad to email you one.

I reinstalled with the current donor manager and still have the same problem.

I've uploaded a zip file to the "Special Downloads" section of the Donor Manager website that contains the 2 "pledgesource" files needed here.

You can find this download here: http://donormanager.com/special-downloa ... bf-and-cdx

Save this file into your c:\donor5\data folder, and then "unzip" or "extract" the 2 files there. That should get you going.

Good news: Now I don't have the pledgesource error message.
Bad news: There are several more error messages for the following files:
filtdet
moreinfo
giftreview
fundid
giftmotive
giftdetail
record number 723

Well, it sounds like things just didn't get completed properly on the installation so you are getting a cascading series of errors.

Since this is a new, fresh install for you, try this.

First of all, be sure that you have installed the program into c:\donor5 (not c:\program files\donor manager ... or anything under "program files.")

Second, go to the folder c:\donor5 and rename the data folder to something else, like c:\donor5\data_bad

Next, restart the Donor Manager. It should ask you for name and address info.

Once you get to the screen that has a button "start using the donor manager" ... click that button.

If you get errors after this point, let me know.

And, please feel free to contact me by email at john@donormanager.com. If need be, we can schedule a remote support session and I can actually see what you see and can troubleshoot live on your computer.

I used the pack and go. Now I have another error:
Record number 31...Index does not match the table. Delete the index file and recreate the index.

That nasty little bug was fixed this morning ... in version 5.67.

But the easiest fix if the DM won't start is to simpy drop the attached file into your c:\donor5\data folder.
DENOM.CDX
(3 KiB) Downloaded 543 times
That should get you back up and running.

Then, do a "pack and reindex" on the drop down "tools" menu and you should be back in business.

That didn't work. I tried the file and I tried the upgrade.

Try zipping up your data folder and emailing it to me: john@donormanager.com

Or a recent pack and go file would work, too.

That will help me sort this out for you.
