A lot of people are using MailChimp for newsletters and other email communication with their partners/supporters. MailChimp allows the user to import their contact list from an Excel worksheet or .csv document.
It would be great if Donor Manager allowed you to export the user's contact list into an Excel worksheet where the Last Name and First Name of the donor is each put in a separate column. When importing to MailChimp, MailChimp anticipates these separate columns. Currently, with Donor Manager, the user has to delete the first names from each contact and then create another column where the user can type the first names back into each record.

Re: Export Excel Format
Good suggestion.
As you have noted, the program does not keep 'first name' and 'last name' separate.
They are combined in one field.
And for services like Mail Chimp, having that would be a great addition.
But, it would require a significant change to how the DM keeps names and addresses. Not particularly difficult to program, but significant.
I also use Mail Chimp and have "make DM more Mail Chimp friendly" on my "to-do" list. It will be interesting to see where that idea leads.
