I have several hundred non-donors I would like to import into DM. The most logical way would seem to use the "Record Contributions" import process. Is there a better way?
If this is the right way, how to I make sure that donor I already have in the database doesn't create a duplicate user? What fields need to match to assure a match?

Re: Importing non-donors
Sorry to be slow responding to this. I just saw it today for the first time.
The "record contributions" routine would work if you gave each donor a gift amount for some future (or far past) month.
Then you could use the "Clear a month's giving history" after you finished with that to clear the "bogus / fake" contributions.
You can also use the "import names from Excel" (on the pull down "tools" menu).
That gives you the option of adding the new names to the database (rather then replacing all names in the database), but it doesn't do any checking for duplicates.
I hope that helps.
And, again, sorry for the delay in responding.
