DM 5.84 on Win 10 - state abbreviations being changed

I have been using DM 5.84 on Windows 10 ever since I upgraded to Win 10 - soon after it became available. A few days ago I imported data (Wycliffe CSV format) and DM changed the state abbreviations to have a lowercase letter for the second letter. (The input data was correct.) This caused every gift...

change the location of automatic backups

I have discovered that DM creates automatic backups in the Windows "My Documents" folder - in a folder named "Donor Manager Data Backup" and in an Excel spreadsheet named PartnerNames. I know that one can rename the folder and the file, or turn off this backup, but I would like to relocate the folde...

Re: "total export" - does it include Notes?

Hello John (and others who may be reading this thread), I will send in the results of my report generation when I've had time to fine-tune it. I think I'd like to include another field or two, and I want to take it out of table format since some fields have a wide variance in the width of their cont...

Re: "total export" - does it include Notes?

Yes. This is working well. I exported all to a .dbf file. I opened the donor.dbf file using MS Access 2007. I hid the fields I do not want in my Word Doc. I published the result to an .rtf file. I saved the RTF file as a Word Doc. I set small margins and changed to landscape orientation. I modified ...

Re: "total export" - does it include Notes?

John, and others who may be interested,

I answered my own question. I was able to open the .dbf files using MS Access 2007. From there I can manipulate the data before creating a Word document. I think this may be sufficient. I'll keep working with it.

Re: "total export" - does it include Notes?

Hello John, Thanks for your quick response. I know this defeats the purpose of an electronic donor list, but my wife likes to have a paper copy of our donor information to work with; including at least the following information: name address phone numbers e-mail addresses special dates (eg. b'days) ...

"total export" - does it include Notes?

As far as I can tell, although, I haven't spent a lot of time looking, even the new (in v.5.55) capability to do a "total export" is not exporting the Notes associated with each partner.

Is this correct, or did I miss it?

I would really like to be able to export that information.

same problem - thanks for the fix

I've seen the same problem, but only yesterday figured out it was the "CC" that was causing the misread by DM.

Thanks for the work-around (editing out the CC).

I wonder if Wycliffe has any other notations which might be used in that field. I see the column has a title of "Pay Method."

including the Notes field in a report

Does anybody know how to include the Notes field in a report?

Perhaps this can be done using the FoxFire program, but I cannot get that to work.

I can export "all fields" to an excel spreadsheet, but "all fields" doesn't include the notes as far as I can tell.

same problem here

I was excited to see that I could create a custom report, but when I went to do so I experienced the same problem reported by ericding back on March 6.

I wonder if anybody is able to create custom reports using Foxfire in version 5.39.05.

If anybody finds a solution, I would love to hear it.

problems with pack and go

Thanks for the suggestion, but both computers are using the same version - the latest. I DID notice that on my source computer, I have a "Donor Manager Data Backup" folder in "My Documents". Inside this folder is the prefs.dbf file which DM seems to be missing. When I import the pack and go file on ...

problems with pack and go

I am trying to setup DM on a second computer. I just installed the lastest download, ran liveupdate and also entered my personal info (Name, Org, address). Then I clicked on Pack and Go, told it I wanted to restore my data, told it where to get the data, imported it all. I was told everything was fi...

Thanks for the offer

Thank you, John, for the offer to convert my data for me, but I've already got the data from Access into Donor Manager and have now added several years' worth of giving data. I think the number of records with comments over 255 characters long is not a large percentage of the total, and so will just...

I finally figured it out.

Thank you, John, for your reply. I was simply editing the fieldname, not knowing that that would not stick. It took me a while to figure out how to edit the default fieldname in Word 2007. The "Insert Merge Field" button was greyed-out, but when I right-clicked on the fieldname, I was given an optio...
