Downloads: General Information

There are two versions of the Donor Manager available for download here.

If you are doing a new installation, you will want to download the full installation package.

If you already have a copy of the Donor Manager on your computer and you are upgrading to the latest version, you will just need the much smaller program upgrade only.

New Installation

Program Upgrade Only

If you are doing a new installation of the program on a computer, you will need to download the full installation package (about 4.6 mb).

Note, the full installation will install version 5.41. After doing the full install, you should check the version numbers to see if there is a minor version upgrade available as well.

Be sure to download the User's Guide as well !

For subsequent program updates, you only need to download the latest version of the core program itself.

These subsequent downloads are about 850 kb in size and download quite quickly, even on a dialup connection.

Note: If you have version 5.30 or later, it is generally quicker and easier to do the update by clicking "Live Update" under "Online Tools" on the Donor Manager main menu.

Download the User's Guide

Follow this link for information about the Users Guide. A new 92 page users guide has been produced for version 5.23, so be sure to download this as well! It is worth the download time and paper and ink. There are lots of tips and hints on how to use the program, as well as more explanation of program features.

ACTBAR.OCK Error

If you have gottten an error message saying that "ACTBAR.OCX" did not install properly, you can download the actbar.ocx file here. This is a 300k download. Simply save this file into your c:\donor5\ff60 folder and all will be well.

The error message can also give the impression that the Donor Manager may not have installed correctly. In fact, most of the time, the program did install properly (check the /Start /All Programs /Donor Manager menu to see if it is there).

Downloading Tips

The files that you will download from this web site for the Donor Manager are compressed installation programs that will "unpack" themselves and install the Donor Manager (and any other needed files) into the appropriate folders on your computer.

The file you download is not the Donor Manager software itself... it is a compressed installer for the Donor Manager. Once you have downloaded the upgrade and it has installed itself, you can then delete the file that you downloaded.

When you select a link for a download, you will have two options. You can choose to "Open" the download, or "Save" the download.

If you choose to "Open" the download, your computer will first of all transfer the file from the internet to your computer, and then run the program that you have downloaded. After you are finished, it will erase the download from your computer.

Selecting "Save" allows you to transfer the downloaded program to your computer (you can specify the name the file is to be saved under and the folder on your computer where the file will be saved.) After the file transfers to your computer, you can then "Open" or "Run" the file to install the donor manager.
